The firm was founded in 1946 by Charles Milor Sr. Our motto "Liberty or Death" reflects the family's deep commitment to fighting for clients' rights. The founding legacy includes military service in Indochina, establishing a tradition of dedication and perseverance that continues today.

Attorney Richard "Tex" McConathy Sr. Career - 1976 to 2010
On May 20, 1976, Richard "Tex" McConathy became the last person in Texas allowed to take the bar exam without graduating from law school. This unique distinction launched a distinguished 34-year career in criminal defense. In 1982, he became a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist and later served as Chair of the Dallas Bar Association Criminal Law Section from 2004-2007. He retired to Lake Weatherford, Texas, in 2010.

Richard Charles McConathy earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas. He joined the firm in 2002 and has served as managing member since 2008, continuing the family tradition of aggressive criminal defense advocacy.

Richard C. McConathy is an active member of the Irving Bar Association, the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers' Association, and the Texas Criminal Lawyers' Association. He served as Treasurer of the Dallas Bar Association Criminal Law Section from 2004-2006.

Brian A. Bolton was hired by the Dallas County District Attorney's Office upon graduating from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. In late 2004, he left the prosecutor's office to begin a private criminal defense practice focused on DWI and intoxication-related offenses. In 2008, Bolton joined the Law Offices of Richard C. McConathy, bringing valuable prosecutorial insight to the firm's defense strategies.
